Snifferdog Sport Fun For The Whole Family

Snifferdog Sport is different from many dog activities.  It is designed to be non-competative more like a recreational activity than a hard core competition.

Teach your dog some simple skills to find a particluar odor and then start having fun.

Are your kids budding outdoor enthusiasts?  If so snifferdog sport might be something the whole family enjoys together.  We are combining geocaching (an online treasure hunt type game)  With K9 scent detection skills to encourage people to play with each other and with their dogs.

Come on out and have some fun.

CONSIDERATIONS WHEN HIRING A LOST PET DETECTION DOG

When you post your lost pet advertisement to Craig’s list, Pet Finders or many other lists you will often be contacted by a number of people trying to give you advice and sell you their services.

It is difficult to know who is sincere in their offer to help and who is simply selling you their service. How do you know who knows what they are talking about and who is an armchair expert.  It does not take a lot of effort to put together a very professional looking sales package.

If anyone initiates contact with you, it would be prudent to be suspicious of their motives and skill.  If it sounds too good to be true than it probably is.

When I started using my certified dogs to help people locate their lost pets there were only a handful of people using trained dogs in the country.  Even though I had been training and working search dogs for years one of the first things I did was take the MPP Missing Animal Response Technician Certification course.  My goal was to learn as much as I could about lost pets, their behaviors, and the techniques used to locate, and recover them.  I started when the missing pet industry was on the ground floor we have learned a lot mostly from people who have lost their pets and successfully recovered them.  I also networked as much as possible with other resources in the lost pet community.  Working together the sum of the parts can be greater than the whole.  WE see improvements constantly as the missing pet detection and recovery industry grows and matures.

There are people who have blessed themselves as experts, there are people who have hired sports tracking trainers and been blessed by their instructors as pet detection teams.  There are organizations that promote themselves as non-profit yet they charge for their services.  (For the record non profit human SAR teams charge nothing for their services.)   You should question the motives of anyone selling themselves as a “non-profit” then charging set fees before they will help you.

Most pets are recovered because of the efforts of their owner to follow through and recover their pet.

I will be the first to tell you that my dogs and I are not perfect if you hire us you are hiring us for the effort not for guaranteed success.  Yet my dogs are trained and certified to K9 standards through various organizations the same ones that certify lost human SAR dogs, and working police dogs.  Several of my dogs have been recognized for their contributions to the community we have multiple Governors awards.  We have a track record that is available to anyone to view on the www.ljtpettracking.com website.  We do not solicit testimonials from clients.  We freely share our knowledge through TV,  print media, and demos.  The only testimonial that counts is when a client calls to tell us their pet is safely home and if we can help with a phone call instead of a house call we are thrilled!

This is the only business where we sincerely hope you never need our services!

Fun Press

So Chewy is going to be making a brief appearance on an upcoming segment of Psychic kids. The disadvantage of having no TV is that I had no idea what they were asking for when they wanted a pet detection demo. It is actually more of a TV show than real information about recovering lost pets. But Chewy was a good sport about the whole thing. Filmed in Frederick County.

Bluestone’s TV Debut

Luckily for Bluestone they needed a handsome face not a rocket scientist for this part he is playing for a Train commercial. We have to give credit to his part to the coaching and work of Carol Rosen, of the
Positive Dog Training and Animal Actors, LLC. She is the one that put’s it all together.  It was quite a hike from CLarksburg but worth the drive in such a beautiful setting.
